A partnership of the Office on Women’s Health in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, McAlpine Consulting for Growth, and Amy Dolgin Consulting
Help Women and Girls, a donation drive and women's health education and awareness project, provides a way for individuals, businesses, and organizations to give back by donating items to support women and girls in need. Additionally, women's health education materials will be provided to all who participate in the project, whether a recipient agency or donor.
This project is part of NATIONAL WOMEN’S HEALTH WEEK (May 11-17), which empowers women across the country to get healthy by taking action. The nationwide initiative encourages women to make their health a top priority and take simple steps for a longer, healthier and happier life.
IT'S EASY TO GET INVOLVED
There are three easy ways you can get involved: as a donor, collection site, or recipient organization.
Donor
Search among registered agencies in our directory. Once you have found an agency that you would like to support by collecting wish list items or by volunteering, you are responsible for contacting the agency directly. Agency contact information will be listed on their profile.
Collection Site
These sites will collect donations during National Women's Health Week (May 11-17). Prior to May 11, you will be mailed a collection box, informational materials, and a wish list of donation items to collect. The project staff will determine which agencies will be the beneficiaries of your donations. If you are interested in registering your organization to be a collection site to gather donations during National Women’s Health Week (May 11-17), click here. This is a perfect way for office groups, apartment building residents, civic organizations, and school and church groups to get involved!
Non-Profits Organizations Serving Women and Girls
If you are interested in registering your agency's wish list, click on "Registering an Agency" on the left menu bar for more information. Browsing the listings of other nonprofit groups in the directory will give you a better idea of the information needed to register your group.

What is National Women's Health Week?
The 9th annual National Women's Health Week will kick off on Mother's Day, May 11, 2008 and will be celebrated until May 17, 2008. National Women's Check-Up Day will be Monday, May 12, 2008.
National Women's Health Week empowers women across the country to get healthy by taking action. The nationwide initiative, coordinated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office on Women's Health (OWH), encourages women to make their health a top priority and take simple steps for a longer, healthier and happier life. During the week, families, communities, businesses, government, health organizations and other groups work together to educate women about steps they can take to improve their physical and mental health and prevent disease, like:
- Engaging in physical activity most days of the week
- Making healthy food choices
- Visiting a healthcare provider to receive regular check-ups and preventive screenings
- Avoiding risky behaviors, like smoking and not weaing a seatbelt
